Renato Bugelli, Italy

C
an you tell something more about yourself ?

“ I'm from Italy and I'll be soon 61 years old. I live not far from Parma, north Italy and I can easily fish on the Alps and Apennines.
”

How long have you been a fly fisherman, and where have you been fishing among others ?
“ I have  been fly fishing since 40 years and have fished in many Countries: Italy (of course), Austria, Yugoslavia, Germany, Switzerland, Scotland  about 20 years for Salmon, British Columbia manly for Steel Head. I was forgetting to say that I have fished the River Glomma for 20 Years in the Kvennan area. ”

Why do you like river Glomma and the Kvennan Fly Fishing zone ?
“ I like the Glomma 'cause is a wild river with plenty wild fish and Kvennan zone is well trained. ”

Can you tell something about the old days at river Glomma ?
“ The fishing for me has always been super every time. It is a University for fly fishers.  ”

Did you catch any really big fish in Glomma ?
“ My biggest Grayling was 56 cm. and biggest brown trout 59 cm. The biggest pike was around 1 meter. ”

What is your favourite dry fly ?
“ Sedges and may Fly (olives imitations) ”

What is your favourite nymph ?
“
I like to fish with a copper nymph and a black one. ”

How long leader do you use, and how thick is your tippet ?
“
Usually I use 12 foot leader size 16/18”

Do you loose a lot of fish when fishing without a barb on your hook ?
“ Much less than with barb hooks ”

What do you think about the new rules & regulations ?
“ For fly fishing only of course I agree, I'm a fly fisherman, but there must be possibilities for the others fishermen. Fishing is beautiful and every one must fish the way they like. The bag limit I would prefer 2/3 fish per day. Ok for the size. The barbless hook should be a must.”

What should be your best advice for a fellow Glomma fly fisherman ?
“ Fish all the time. There are fish feeding all day and night and the Glomma is one of the most beautiful wild rivers left. ”

What should be your best advice for river management ?
“
That people should not kill 30/60 fish like years ago. Look after the Killers. ”

Is there something more you want to share ?
“ .................................... ”
